Our Mission
Unchain My Heart is a coalition of Jewish Women's organisations formed in 2014 whose mission is to eradicate the existence of Agunot (chained women). Through advocacy, investigation, education and collaboration the Melbourne based organisation works towards resolving Gett (Jewish divorce) refusal. Gett refusal has been recognised as a form of family violence in the Magistrates Court of Victoria. UMH provides trained volunteers on site at the Melbourne Beth Din (Jewish Religious Court) to support parties during the Gett process.
